This course covers PHP & MySQL, one of the fastest growing technology combinations for developing interactive Web sites. It is designed at a level for personal web development projects, as well as small to medium business Web development needs.

What you should know after the class:
Design PHP based web pages using correct php, css, and xhtml syntax, structure.
Create Web forms and pages that properly use HTTP GET and POST protocol as appropriate.
Design SQL language within MySQL and PHP to access and manipulate databases.
Install and configure both PHP and MySQL.
Create PHP code that utilizes the commonly used API library functions built in to PHP.
Demonstrate use of cookie, session, and authentication programming in PHP.
Design and create a complete web site that demonstrates good PHP/MySQL client/server design.
Books:
We will be using two excellent books for this class:
"PHP Programming with MySQL" by Don Gosselin and "PHP 6 and MySQL 5" by Larry Ullman.

Requisite Knowledge:
You should already have a basic understanding of the following concepts as covered in our CBIS 38 Database class:
Explain the basic concepts of database management systems; describe the advantages and disadvantages of DBMS.
Use relational algebra and logically describe normal data set operations in relational databases.
Understand the use and syntax of SQL data retrieval statements, SQL to retrieve data, manipulate data, create database and alter database structures, as well as control user access to data.
Create SQL statements for Query and data exchange.
And you should already have taken a programming course that covers:
Understanding of programming structure and basics
Ability to create computer programs
Knowledge of variables and data types
Knowledge of Arrays and simple data structures
Enrollment:
You must go to www.lbcc.edu and follow the steps for Fall enrollment.
1. Your first step is to fill out the online school enrollment applications form and then await your access codes. (do this by July 16th for a smooth process)
2. When you recieve your id and password, enroll in CBIS 420 Section #74262. Enroll as soon after as possible in case the class fills up. If the class fills up, make sure to get on the wait list to be considered for openings. Note, the enrollmnet is not avaliable from August 1st to August 11th.
